I am going to studiously ignore these postings, as I do not want to get tempted. :P

Got an Achaemenid army already, but maybe one more unit of noble cavalry would be justifiable....

Normally I would eshew the Persians.

Too bright. Too many troop types.

However ...

On another question - Leon, are there any plans for bringing back the ancient ships?   Can't do Marathon without ships.

Ever since i purchased some Hinchcliffe 25mm figures in the late seventies i have always wanted a complete Persian force.
Now is the time.
Well almost the time.

I've checked with Jimmy James and the Vagabonds (from 1976) and indeed they are quite categorical that "Now is the time".
Although, to be fair, when I subsequently searched Google to check the actual lyrics of the song I couldn't see mention of the word "Achaemenid" at all. But that's probably because they couldn't think of a suitable rhyme.

See the front o' battle lour;
See approach proud Xerxes' power—
Chains and slavery!"

Had a chap round from the local council's Highway Dept, yesterday afternoon, about some 'No Parking' signs we'd put on our grass verge.

Same chap that I've met before, and knew he had an interest in toy soldiers (though in a rather larger scale).....He obviously knew I was working, as I was wearing the Optivisor when I answered the door.
After sorting out the signs, he asked me what I was working on...."Ancient Persians ", I replied.
"Oh, Xerxes and that ?" Said he.

Guess what figure I'd just started ?

Talk about a coincidence ! :o (Absolutely True !)

Cheers - Phil

So you had to take the signs down?,But he'd let you put one up saying 'No chariots on the grass'.....

It was more a case of rewording them to make it clear that folk weren't to park on the grass.  :) It's not a very safe place to park anyway, as it's just before/after a blind and rather narrow bend.
If there are two vehicles coming from opposite directions 'at speed' one usually has to dive onto the grass to avoid a 'smack'.
