Title: Imperial Guard
Post by: Shutuphippie on 01 January 2019, 11:05:48 AM
Howdy,

I am slowly working my way through a 10mm 1815 Waterloo project using  Blucher and could do with a bit of advise from you learned Fellas

I was wondering if the 1809 French Grenadier figure (NPF10) could be used as Old Guard Grenadiers and if the French French Carabinier line (NPF13) could be used for Old Guard Chasseurs.

I want my old guard units to look visually different from the Middle Guard  so was going to use the NPF23 Guard Grenadier figures in greatcoats as Middle Guard.

What do you think?

Cheers

Andy

Depending on your sensibilities you probably could use the 1809 line grenadiers.

NPF22/23 are IG grenadiers in greatcoat and tunic but of course leave you without IG chasseurs

It's an imperfect fit but probably the best compromise until the IG sub-range is fleshed out - which French have you been using for 1815 anyway, that will inform how exacting you are in terms of uniform?  ;)

Thanks Zippee

I'm using the 1809 range French infantry, not ideal but I figure a lot of the units would still be wearing the pre Bardin 1812 older uniforms due to problems and cost of kitting out some many units with the new uniforms before 1815.

Besides it also gives me the option of painting up some Austrians for the 1809 campaign once I finish the Waterloo stuff.

I love Pendraken figures so want to use them where possible, though I am having to order some Red Lancers of Redline as nothing in the Pendraken range comes close ☹️
