For some reason Google Chrome decided to stop working in my laptop last night. God only knows why. I've tried all of the suggested fixes, but to no avail, so have gone back to Firefox which is at least working (for the moment). Very frustrated of Bristol!
For some reason.....Too far back in the distant past to remember why. :-[
I could never get 'Chrome' to work 'properly', when I first got this PC....So it got dumped and I've used Firefox ever since.
With my non existent computer skills, I can't help you at all, Steve...Sorry.

I had exactly the same thing too.

It has been running a bit slower on my Chromebook (dedicated Chrome machine) today, I didn't think anything about it until you raised the point.
