Nice!

But having seen your painting for real, I wonder if you need a new camera Will? Your photos do not seem to do your painting true justice.

The grey has helped, the exposure on the figures is much better, much easier to see the paint job and details :)
A slightly darker grey would be even better ;)

Looking REALLY good! I think the grey background has helped, but as Paulr said, a bit darker still might be better.  :-bd

Just have a bit of a play with backgrounds, Will.  :)

It's impossible to guess the exact 'shade' of background you've used....I'd have to be there, and see it in 'normal' light.

Decades ago X_X......The gray card that I used when taking meter readings for the exposures, (so I could then go on to use manual settings,) was in reality darker than I would have expected for this fabled neutral tone......I can only describe it as mid to dark gray.

For all I know, you've used exactly this right shade for the background.....And the auto meter has compensated and 'washed it out', very slightly. (Perhaps ?)

It's still oodles better..(I like it !)......and does your work far more justice !! :)

Great stuff !!

Cheers - Phil

I'm liking those!

The basing really sets them off nicely.

Maybe try taking the photos from a bit further away, helps reduce the relative motion of the horses... (and helps the camera focus on such small things)

Hi
40x30 for cav, 40x20 for infantry (although larger units sometimes get some double based) and generals onto 40x40.

A unit and a half of Sassanids added to the army
Cataftacts, I had a pack of 15, plus one sapre, and three horse archers, so I needed one more figure, so I added a cat to the cats!
