Hi all,
This is the thread for feedback, wow words, praise and general astonishment about the entries in this year's painting competition.
Have fun
Will
Do planes, gliders etc go in the 'Other Vehicles' category?
Good question.
Yes please.
Well done Will.
Seeing all the categories listed, reminds me just how many there are!!
Better get on with finding painting and photographing
I still consider myself a newbie to this forum, but since joining it has become my first, and number one, forum I hit when I turn on the PC. Mostly because I enjoy the consistently positive attitude of everyone, and the sense of humor and repartee that I see. I really do not enjoy forums where posters rip into fellow posters because they don't agree or like what they said. OK, off subject, so let me get to it....
This is my first ever painting competition on line and I am thoroughly enjoying the excitement that seems to surround it. I cannot wait to start seeing the various posts of competed projects, and have seen some truly awesome work by you all (yes, I live in the south). Win or lose, I am having fun and hope everyone else is too!
I commend Pendraken for hosting this and Mad Lemmey, or is it Will, (still learning who is who here) for taking on the task. Gentlemen, I tip my hat to you!!!
Terry
Yep......Will is Mad Lemmey's real name, Terry. :)
Cheers - Phil
Sorry ... "Will is Mad Lemmey's real name Terry."
So, Yoda, Terry is Mad Lemmey's real name?
BTW Come on Chaps. The competition has been open for over 24 hours and no entries? Mine is in prep. I've just done the third soak in my own patented cleaning formula. Then it will be the undercoat - which is always a most vexing stage. If that doesn't go right I will have to spend hours in meditation trying to centre myself and communicating with the spirit of the model. 6 times out of 7, the undercoating has to be redone, and sometimes I lose the, like, essence of what I'm trying to create, and so it's totally back to stage 1 when I have to find a model that speaks to me and allows me to say something like totally new in 10mm? Then I have to cleanse ,myself, purification, which means eating only foods that have an energy link to the process, mostly mung beans, tofu and cheesecake? And wearing white is a given. So after the undercoating there's the base coating and that takes like no time at all, but then I have to contemplate the effect from all angles under 8 types of light before I can be satisfied that I have achieved something truly remarkable. If I'm not satisfied, it's back to stage 1.
By this time, I've usually run out of time and make the complete bodge of the paint job that I have always presented. :-[
Comma
Why let a little thing like a punctuation mark get in the way of a pull of Techno's tail?
I don't know why, but I'm genuinely more excited about this comp than previous years.
I think Mr 37 is spot on with his comment.
Don't know if i'll have something to contribute this time, haven't got the mojo for the moment!
Alas, my father has chosen this time to have a fall and then a trip in the big white taxi and needs some help now he's home. So I won't be entering my, undoubtedly less than spectacular, version of Pendraken's lovely Maus as I had intended. :(
Looking forward to seeing entries and casting votes which will likely be my only participation.
Hope he's on the mend, as soon as, Mike.
As well as keeping an eye on the MIL, I've got Von suffering from some bug, today.
No rest for the wicked. =)
Cheers - Phil
Get well soon all
Look after yourself as well as them Phil!
Hope Von recovers quickly and that your MIL is as good as she can be.
I've been busy, but I will have some soon!!!
Mick (?) should get some kudos for being the very first entrant !!
Well done, Matey.
Cheers - Phil
Some lovely entries so far I'll add mine next
Take care
Andy
Glad to see entries coming in.
Thanks chaps
How can you participate? Who sent my work for the contest?
Jesus,
Either post on the relevant thread or email me
Hi, I sent you a private message
Got and replied, thank you Jesus. :D
No, no, no - now that people are posting this is just getting too, too hard to vote. Was it 50+ votes that we get????
Some great work already!!!
Terry
Thanks!!
For the army can you put some more detailed photo?
YEs please, that's why the photo limit is greater
Will...
This may have been decided already.....And I've just missed it, but.......
For each category.....do we each get a single vote.....Or are we each doing a first (3 points) second (2 points) and a third (1 point) ?
Cheers - Phil
Three votes, worth 1 each.
In each category we give 3 votes?

ah ok :) :)
Hurrah, Pre-Renaissance Entries, phew! #:-S
Just got into 10mm ancients a month or so ago. Lovely details in such a scale. Now 15mms look big! :-
Welcome to the forum, ElRafa !
Cheers - Phil.
Welcome ElRafa!
Welcome ElRafa
Impressive first 10mm figures and conversions :-bd =D> :-bd =D>
Can`t wait to see all those beautiful entries :D :D :D :D :D
Cómo se hace para colgar fotos más grandes? Yo solo puedo colgar de 128 kb y salen medianas pero veo que otros pueden subir fotos que se ven más grandes.....
Que? I am from Barcelona......I know nothing.
Sorry, I'm used to having the translator
How is it done to hang bigger photos? I can only hang 128 kb and leave medium but I see that others can upload photos that look bigger.
Hola Jesus, I was given this information which worked for me. When you click on the two brackets add width=800 to the first one, like this:

then paste your photo. Hope this also works for you.
Alternatively, if you use 'Paint' open the image in paint and use 'resize' to specify any size you want.
Only three categories without entries now, wonder which will be the last to get one? ;)
(//) try that Jesus
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!
Not WITH but WIDTH.

Jesus, to get larger images you need to host the images somewhere else; a blog, flickr, imgur, ...
You can then link to them, most of the hosting sites will tell you the 'code' to use to share the images, it will look something like this
{url=https://flic.kr/p/FXe61x][{mg width=800]https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4479/26222874539_c3e078022f_b.jpg{/img]{/url] with the "{" replaced with "[" so it will work
Allows user to click on picture 800 pixels wide location of picture
to see full size image at hosting site
You then past it into your reply, you can use the Preview button to check it works
Hope that helps
The modeling part is done for my entry, and I applied the primer just a few minutes ago. Tomorrow I start painting and hopefully can get it done quickly as I need time to do the basing as well. Just 20 days left, so I am having to scramble!!!
Terry
I have finished the bulk of the painting and hope to wrap it all up by tomorrow and then base it. But i do have a question - I am not sure which category to put it in so think it best to send it and let you all place it. But I don't know who or how to send it with out an email address. Can you advise please?
Thanks,
Terry
PM sent Terry
I get lost with so much discussion thread :(
Discussions in a sub-board perhaps?
Phew! 40 mnutes, crashed computer, another 45 minutes and two photos posted. Flipping' eck. ~X(
I am closing in on my entry and will get it to you before the dead line.....I hope! I'm to just doing the basing, which usually goes quickly once all the putty work is done and I finished that today - nasty messy business it is too - but worth it to me. Hope to make great progress tomorrow.
Terry
Not looking too promising for my big Prussian siege guns. May have them done just as the paint off finishes, then more time photographing and trying to then post the photos.
I'm sure hoping to see more entries. This is a fun event and I feel we really need to support it. So come on guys start posting pictures of your work please!
Terry
I have a good number of entries - but I need to photograph them. Which will probably have to wait for the weekend, in the off chance that there is some good light. Might be interesting in Nov, with the amount of rain we are getting at the minute.

Normally I always try to enter for the fun of it, but haven't painted any 10mm in over 6 months. Maybe I can sneak I something this weekend, but I can't promise anything!
(and I must admit, apart from some spares and a few zombies, all my 10mm Is painted)
I'm in a similar boat the figures I've painted this year have been based by Pierre the Shy or from another manufacturer :-[ X_X
Think I can get some C18th stuff posted over the weekend.
A flurry of entries tonight.
Won't be making it i think, sorry!
Spent 3 paiting sessions worth of browsing for black friday deals ;D ;D ;D
'Ere.......Will.
Wot 'appens if there are only two or three entries in a particular category ?
Are we able to give more than one of our three votes to a single entry ?
Jus' wondering...... :-\
Cheers - Phil
I may just be ready to enter the next competition, possibly
Hil,
I will limit to one vote per entry in that case, couple of categories look like the entry might get 100% of the vote! =O
(*)
Okeedokey, Matey.
That sounds the right thing to do.
Cheers - Phil
Time is ticking all, last twelve hours (ish) folks, :!! :!! :!!
Busy evening with taking photos, editing them and then posting. Lucky I don't work Fridays so can work late tonight :)
Can't believe how long the photographing, editing and uploading takes - took me two good chunks of Sunday, and a bit of time during the week.
Lack of time (my fault) will limit the entries I will be making. Even so, I reckon it will take me a few hours to do.
Well, entries in and as thought, just over 2 hours work. Had a quick look at some of the categories and there are some impressive examples there, no shadow of a doubt.
All threads are now locked.
Huge thank you to everyone who entered.
I will set up the votes tomorrow.
Thanks Will
Lots of entries, lots of categories. Good luck to everyone in the voting.
Hi all there have been some amazing entries, congratulations to everybody who participated.
I wish you all the very best of luck.
Take care
Andy
Great entries! Well done to all those taking part.
Best mounted (Renaissance (1485) to end of 18th Century) - The Vote!

While I'm certainly doing well in a couple I think Red Stef is ahead in most categories
