Welcome to a pretty quiet corner of the Pendraken Forum....
So the 2017 - 18 EPL season kicks off this weekend - any predictions as to who will take it out this year?
Can Spurs go one better and win the English top flight for the first time since 1961-62? (Oh yes I hope so 8) )
Or will the big spenders from Cheslea, Man Utd or Man City just be too good for all the rest?
Or purhaps we might see another smaller club do what Leicester did a couple of years ago.....could newly promoted Brighton or Huddersfield win it on their first attempt?

I predict that Newcastle will be the most successful Premier League club in the North East this year. I'm so confident, I'd even place money on it!
I also predict that Swansea will be the most successful Welsh club in the Premier League this year.
I predict that, at least, two managers will get sacked over the course of the season - but will any be replaced before the January transfer window?
So that's no premier league clubs in either the North East or Wales at the end of the season then !!!
18th, 19th or even 20th in the League Table by the end of Match Day 38, they're still counted as being in the Premier League 2017-18 :D
Didn't say they'd be any cop!
I think it is quite insulting to Wales to call it the EPL
Shouldn't it be EaWPL?
Just as bad with the cricket.
But then, I'm just a Scotsman.
Could be awkward having to change it every few years the way Cardiff and Swansea get bounced up and down! ;D
Jim,
I'm sure the English Premier League would change it to mention the Welsh inclusion...
...if the Scottish Football League set the ball rolling, since they've got Berwick Rangers.
:)
I think the title is coming north again this year, both City and Utd have ploughed a lot of money into their teams and it'll be a two horse race between them. Chelsea will struggle without Costa and Morata will take some time to get up to speed in the Premiership. Spurs haven't bought anyone yet so unless they can bring someone in they'll be 4th or 5th this time around, above Arsenal though.
Relegation will be Huddersfield, almost nailed on I'm afraid. They exceeded all expectation to get promoted in the first place and they just won't have the squad quality to deal with the Premier League. Brighton might sneak to safety, as will Newcastle as long as Benitez stays. I'm going with Swansea and Watford for the other two relegation places.
Okay, if Leon's going to ruin it and give a serious answer. I'll say... Jose Mourinho and Manchester United (with Zlatan Ibrahimovic).
I'm hoping Newcastle will be the worst PL team ever :)
Cheers

I'm a Hammers man therefore I don't make predictions until just before the last match of the season...and even then with little confidence.

I predict that in the first match of the season Arsenal will beat LCFC 4-3 but Leicester will lead late in the game.
I also predict Rooney will go back to his roots and play for Everton.
And finally, West Brom will top the table by 9 points.
1. Man City
2. Man Utd
3. Chelsea
4. Arsenal
5. Liverpool
6. Spurs.
In my opinion Newcastle are a brilliant Championship side but leave a lot to be desired in the EPL
And of late the EPL has no interest for me as I follow Villa (Championship) and Forest Green Rovers (League 2)
Both teams are renowned for going 2 up and then drawing
Try supporting Shrewsbury Town, we dream of Mid-table mediocrity! ;D
Spurs fan here. I'm sure they'll make a good run and then implode at some point in the season in typical fashion and end somewhere in the 6-8 ranking.
I'm still saying Man U for the title.
And Newcastle as best EPL team in the NE of England. Though Darlington is obviously the best team in the North East! :)
My current hope is that Sittinbgourne FC (What do you mean, you've never heard of them) will be in the top two of the Bostick League Southern Division at the end of the season and thus get automatically promoted. They are an FA 4th tier football club at which I am not on the main committee But am also Youth Secretary.

I hope they make it all the way this year, but Wembley does not seem to be their "home away from home" form wise while the new stadium is being built.
I'd have to agree with DFlynSqrl that Spurs will have a form implosion sometime this season if they follow their usual pattern :(
Best of luck to Sittingbourne FC getting their promotion Subedai.....another AFC Wimbolden story in the making?
They've got no chance, if they lost to Pagham. X_X

Yep, I know, I was there at both matches. Drew one each at there ground (3 hours each way courtesy of the big car park that surrounds The Smoke) and then they come here and win. Without being too partisan we did have a stone cold penalty not given and you wouldn't believe the goalmouth scrambles at their end. They were literally throwing bodies in the way. Still, as the football saying goes we can now concentrate on the league.
Not saying the first match was uninspiring or anything but I got some great pics of a Spitfire and a P-51 (I think) flying over the ground from the Eastbourne Airshow.

Well its now 2018 and looks like there is only one team in the title race at the moment.
As DFlynSqrl predicted its not Spurs, who seem to have gone off the boil and are currently 6th, even if Harry Kane can outscore half the teams in the EPL single handedly :(
They might as well give Man City the trophy now. ;D
Cheers - Phil
Yeah it's hard to see anyone else catching them now. I think Man Utd are going to implode soon as well, Mourinho's not a happy chappy at the moment and is starting to come out with some crazy excuses as to why they're not competing with City.
Arsenal need to sort out their contract department as well, to have so many 1st team players out of contract in the summer is ridiculous.
Man city by a mile. But hasn't the EPL just got a bit boring all I hear is managers moaning (even when winning), players moaning, fans moaning, pundits moaning.
Enjoyed the NFL much more this season would love to see the Rams get the superbowl.
Probably need to change the name to Empty Pockets Lose, as it seems to be the team with the deepest pockets wins.
cheers
Ian

'Fraid I think it's
more than a bit boring now, Matt. It's almost tedious. X_X And I really don't care much about the results anymore.
Ian.....I think you've just come up with the new name for the league.....The DPW League. :)
Cheers - Phil.
Yeah, it does look pretty set now for Man City. Just the scraps to squabble over now.

I'm still sticking with these predictions!

The DPW League. :)
Is that the new name the Spanish League? Well Barcelona and Real Madrid always seem to have plenty of money to spend in the transfer market.....
Well the 2017 -18 season turned out to be a one horse race....well done Man City.
Spurs qualify for the Champions League and get "bragging rights" for being the best placed London based side, for what thats worth, but still no silverware :(
There's always next season.....
Maybe I should play in a fantasy football league :)
Good luck to Middlesbourgh in their big play off game.....

I'm hoping we can do it! In a perfect piece of timing, the first leg was while we were stuck in the van coming back from Falkirk and we couldn't get a radio signal either. And then the second leg is away and we've scheduled a full day of cleaning in the unit!
