Cracking game. Where do the Springboks go from here?
Home?
:o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o
I was doing DIY chores and missed it ! :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(
Did the Springboks put out their under-14s side or something ?
Cheers - Stunned of Wales.
Springboks put out their most experienced side ever!
Some wag was quick on Wikipedia tonight:
"The Japan national rugby union team (often known as the Cherry Blossoms or more recently the Murderers of Springboks)"
Even Ma Subs and I enjoyed that match. Right to the wire.

Can only hope they have a bad day on Wednesday!
They were AWESOME! :o :o :o :o. I watched England on Friday night and wondered what had happened to the modern game. I was bored rigid, and started channel hopping and playing on my iPad. I put the TV on this pm after a trip to the shops, and was hooked,. It was electrifying. They were liike a pack of hounds harrying a bear, fast, relentless, fearless. An amazing performance which should not be downplayed by arguments about the Springboks being past it. The Japanese absorbed their best shots and kept coming back for more. The most impressive Springbok on display was Francois Pienaar, who was a model of what we hope Rugby
turns out, a true gentleman. Maybe this tournament will be worth watching after all. :-\
Mollinary
Followed up by a dull slugfest between Les Bleus and The Azuri..... The Northern Hemispheres game is well behind in skill and panache. I-)
Agreed, an absolutely cracking game. Well done to Japan for tenacity, guts, flair and attacking play. Next game against Scotland on Wednesday which could be interesting...

Banzai, Banzai .... blah, blah ....
No worries. On Thursday we'll be saying, "They came on in the same old way and we defeated them in the same old way."*
[.... I hope! :-S :-S ]
*Wellington after Waterloo.
Japan game was amazing - just saw some highlights on TV.
I hope the AB's don't have an extra seat on the plane* when they come home, else they might end up being denied entry back into NZ ;)
* when Team NZ won the America's Cup in 1995 the cup was so big that they booked a separate seat for it on the Air NZ flight back from LA.
The Webb Ellis trophy is very small in comparison - I'm sure Ritchie McCaw can hold it comfortably in one hand during the flight home - says Pierre with fingers crossed :)
Best game i've seen in a very long time. Well deserved win to the Japanese.
There are going to be a lot of upset gamblers here in NZ >:(
The TAB (official betting organisation) is offering $1,000,000 if you can pick all the results of RWC correctly
I wonder home many live bets are left now :-\
The Japanese have defeated my dear Rugby-mad country at its own game, have they? Wonderful news!

Apparently 48,000 had entered,
ONE person had picked Japan to beat South Africa :o
For some reason he picked Uruguay to beat Wales :-\ TAB's $1,000,000 is safe now :(
Presumably for the same reason he picked Japan to win - going for underdogs all the way.
All Blacks looked a bit pushed by Argentina for a fair bit of the match this afternoon.
From the little I saw of that one, I had the feeling that the Kiwis had another gear or two that they could have gone up......But they weren't as impressive, as I thought they might have been.
Cheers - Phil. (Who had South Africa as his third choice to win the tournament, before it started......Ooops ! :-[)
The AB's certainly weren't at their best..... I was a bit concerned at the end of the first half...
Japan were brilliant :)
I see no-one's mentioned yesterday's game. :P
Cheers - Phil
What game?
Still in shock :o
I've never seen one team dominate another so completely and still lose. Well done to Wales for hanging in there. As much as it pains me to say so, if Wales had been able to put a full strength team out the game could have been completely different and the win margin significantly bigger.

Not sure about that, Nosher :-\ (I didn't see
all of the game, anyway.)
I imagine, that a 'neutral' wouldn't have thought of the game as 'a classic' until the last few minutes...which WAS exciting, because it could have
easily gone either way.
Cheers - Phil
Being a Welsh supporter, I still can't believe they actually won! Talk about resilience in the face of adversity. The English team must be completely shell shocked.
Indeed. Wow! What a great result for Wales! English fans must feel gutted (been there). And Scotland won too! OK. Its was 'only' against the U.S.A. But the way we Scots have been playing these days we never know what to expect (and never underestimate our transatlantic cousins).
Where's 'Greta Pig' these days? He like the rugby. Anyone else missing him? Or, is he back .... in another disguise ...... ? I think it might be ....
Africa may take a terrible revenge on Japan one day. There's a thriving shogi federation in Ghana, believe it or not. Wouldn't it be a dream if they sent a team to the far east some day and defeated the samurai of the chessboard too?
Good grief !
I didn't really expect Wales to beat the Aussies yesterday, but seeing how the Wobberlies defended when they were down to 13 men.......Stroll on.....They were a bit good !!!
Cheers - Phil
Yep, awesome display by the Wallabies. Definitely deserved their win. Cracking game with Scotland against Samoa, just a shame that Samoa didn't get the win after their wonderful attacking play. Also would have meant Japan going through, which would have been good for the game overall.

Who are the All Blacks playing? Strangely not a lot of RWC coverage in the Philippines ;)
Pretty sure it's France, Paul.
Cheers - Phil
yes its France - people here are a bit nervous as in 2007 the French knocked out the All Blacks in the quarter finals and this time round the AB's have yet to post a really outstanding performance during pool play.
Spud just says "keep calm and carry on - we know what we have to do" so all will be well 8)
France on a good day can be very good - just never know if it will be a good day for them or the AB's :-\
I'd still have NZ as the favourites......
Followed by the Aussies, South Africa and Ireland.
Cheers - Phil

Stolen from my Facebook wall. I'm not into sport but even I had to smirk at this one.
An Englishman walks into a bar .... there's normally a Scotsman, Welshman and an Irishman in this gag but they were still at the World Cup watching the Rugby ... :d

May as well laugh whilst I can .... Australia on Sunday ..... :-S
You should worry !

Wait, do I know you......? ;D
South Africa - Wales.
New Zealand - France.
Ireland - Argentina.
Australia - Scotland.
:)
Looking at that list, I think the 'home' teams should all win.
ABE :)
All Blacks - France #:-S :) :D
Basically the wrong French team turned up, and then it went home at halftime!
Sadly for Wales, the Springboks did turn up.
Assuming that Steve's right about the 'home teams', above......I wonder whether the Irish can beat the Aussies in the second semi, to get to the final. :-\
Cheers - Phil
The Wales/SA game was a corker, can't believe how tight it was until that last try! Brilliant try too...
The All Blacks were simply awesome last night. I haven't seen such a one sided game for a long, long time. Wales did well considering their long list of injuries, but the first half penalties they gave away cost them the match. Not sure the Springboks can go all the way to the final though.

Hey, we nearly captured Rommel this afternoon!
So, 3-0 southern hemisphere now!
23 point win by Argentina over Ireland!!!! Ouch!
🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷😱🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷
Just got in from shopping with son and gob-smacked by the size of the Puma's win :o :o :o
Why do I get a feeling all Northern Hemisphere teams will be out before Strictly starts...
There was an Englishman, Welshman and Irishman in the bar - the Scotsman, being a true Scot, said "Get them in I'll be joining you soon."
Typing this while Scotland are leading Australia but the Northern Hemisphere teams just seem so much slower and have less isdea in attack than the Southern Hemisphere teams
Well, that's us out. :'(
In the bar later the Englishman asks for a pint of Brains bitter because lack of brains lost them the match, the Welshman just asks for bitter, reflecting his feelings, the Irishman asks for Guinness because they lost through lack of strength. When asked the Scotsman asks for a wee one - no one dared ask why.
Felt really sorry for the Scots.
They played magnificently. (What a way to lose. X_X)
Cheers - Phil
The Scots played well but the Wallabies were sloppy IMHO. Poor defence (or complete lack of) for the first Scottish try and a moment of madness for the second via the interception. When the Wallabies attacked they seemed to score and were much faster at the breakdown etc.
You really do notice the speed difference between the Northern and Southern hemisphere sides. We all look slow compared to the All Blacks et al.

That's coz you are :P
Best moment for me so far: Savea bulldozing his way through 3 Frenchman to score - reminiscent of Lomu running over half the England team 20 years ago :D
Thought Scotland should of won it!
Sloppy to give a penalty away in last minute.
:'( :'(
The penalty that wasn't one it appears. Craig Joubert didn't have a good game to say the least. He was penalising the Wallbies in the scrum, then completely missed the Scottish tighthead slipping his bind in the scrum right in front of him. Scotland deserved to win for their sheer determination and team work.
Thank God we have Wayne Barnes and the brilliant Nigel Owens to referee the semi-finals, with hopefully the latter for the final. The Southern hemi-sphere teams are definitely better than their Northern hemi-sphere cousins, but their refs are pretty poor IMHO.
It's official then. We Scots wuz robbed! By a Southern Hemisphere ref. [-(

I'm sure the AB's will do their best to make sure that the Aussies don't take the Webb Ellis Trophy home with them (assuming that the Wallabies beat Los Pumas tomorrow) :)
I might even get a grandstand view of the Trophy arriving at NZ Rugby HQ in Wellington - I work just across the road....if NZ win next weekend ;)

If? If?! Hold your tongue, you heretical oaf! :o
It was an edge of the seat game yesterday though.... :-SS
Close game largely due to the All Blacks giving away so many penalties in the first half. Hope the Pumas win today as that would set up a cracking final IMHO.
And it would mean the Aussies get to play in the loser final :D
As all good Kiwis should, I support the All Blacks and anyone playing Australia ;)
This can get a little challenging when Australia play England ;D
Go, Los Pumas
Well just watched the second semi, so the AB's get to play the Aussies.
I hope the AB's do bring it home Dave, but its not 100% guaranteed.....
but have to say the AB's would be my odds on favourites after seeing the Wallabies play today 8)
I missed the first 50 minutes or so, due to not being able to read the TV guide properly.... felt sorry for the Pumas - they gave it a good go.
The Wallabies must be hurting after the recent games. I hope the ABs win as they do play some wonderful rugby.
Job done! :D 8)

About 10 minutes, perhaps ;)
I haven't seen the game and only read the result the next morning, no coverage here in Manila
Here Rugby is a brand of glue, apparently popular with those who sniff glue to get a buzz :(
AB's arrived home to a heros welcome today (hardly surprising : )).
Talk is that Richie McCaw should be knighted :o
Now just need Spurs to win the Premier League and sporting nivarna will be complete!?!
