Inspired by recent discussion on the Sudan (and reading River War) and by Maenoferren's excellent project I have finally painted some 10mm. Over the years I've bought figures for several projects and never started any thing! On my blog is discussion on base sizes etc. but here are my first samples painted.

They look really good.
Anyone know if the Boer War kneeling British are OK for Sudan? I want to do a nice firing line! :)

They look very nice, Andy. Not my thing but good luck to the two of you with the project.
Tthey look nice and crisply painted 8).
Very nice work, Andy.
Cheers - Phil
Boer War British troops will be wearing puttees.
Would really like to see a pic. They would probably do for the later Sudan. But paint job might work in 10mm.... And kneeling they might be less easy to spot the difference?
And thanks for the kind comments all! :)

Looking fab :-bd :-bd :-bd
looking good !
Nice
Puttees would be right for Camel Corps. . .
Ever tried putting putees on a camel? :D
Essential; tie the ankles together before attaching all the other gear, tackle, and trim.
Those look good
Never one to speed along with projects I've finally returned to the Sudan! The unit started above is STILL not finished but thanks to the ever generous Slugbalancer sending me some of his painted Sudan Brits I've finally for the project moving again!
Martin sent me two batches of his painted Brits. I just applied a wash to them, based them and painted the few extra needed to get them up to my proposed unit strengths.

I know the two lots of Brits.

But this last few days I've been painting up some opposition for them having seen an excellent tutorial on a blog. Full details are on my blog: http://blog.belisarius.org.uk/2017/07/a-warm-fuzzy-wuzzy-feeling.html (http://blog.belisarius.org.uk/2017/07/a-warm-fuzzy-wuzzy-feeling.html) but I now have some natives painted.

Just need to keep the momentum going!

Great job! :-bd
If you plan to dawdle, you need to be doing the first campaign so you can get to Khartoum too late! Let's see some red coats there.
Looking good Andy!
What rules are you using for them?
For visual effect, I think you have your basing just right.
They look really good.
Great looking units 8)
Those look just the part!
Excellent! =D>
Thanks for the comments. I have next big batch in sticks waiting for spraying!
Initially I'm going with The Men Who Would Be Kings just to get using them and as I get more done I'll look into other sets....
Cheers
Andy
They look very good.
You've plenty there to start playing TMWWBKs - its quite figure number independent. With 10mm I go for similar numbers of figures to the 28mm suggestions, but based 4 to a base - but it really doesn't matter within the rules.
Lovely job. Minis and table look spot on. Always thought I'd do colonials in 15mm, but these are very tempting.
:-bd =D> :-bd
A couple of interesting blog posts as well, thanks :)
Great stuff !! :-bd
Cheers - Phil.
Two great armies and the desert looks good too.
Very nice indeed
Take care
Andy
This is a really inspiring thread - I must try and resist as so much is beckoning at the moment.
Beatiful!!!!
And after a bit of a lull I've finished the next batch of Mahdists. Used the same ideas as Dave D for his Painting the Hordes again.
