Been threatening these for a while, so here they are:
2/3 of the 1870 Wurttenberg Division (ran out of bases before I could do them all), so 2 more infantry regiments and 5 (yes 5) more batteries of Artillery to do!
These guys had more artillery in one division than a whole Prussian Corps!  :'(

Nice!  I really like the look of the bigger bases.

Thanks Leon, I like them that way, it gives them a more 'regimental' feel, and also each one can become a diorama too. I started with Volley and Bayonet, but now we use them for black powder too!

They look really good Lemmey, I think the main point of 10mm is the mass appeal. Unless you own a football stadium 28mm Franco-Prussian is really for skirmishing, which of course does have its place. I've even got some 54mm French and Prussians from a company in the Ukraine, but the 10mm are my pride and joy.

Really nice, love the blocks of jaegers up front, unusual and effective.
Don't buy your daughters a pony, buy them heroin instead, its cheaper and ultimately less addictive.

Great work. Glad I'm not French! Prussian artillery is bad enough  X_X
When you realise we're all mad, life makes a lot more sense.

Good looking stuff!   How did you find V&B works for this period? Is Black Powder noticeably better?

We play at Corps level, with Regiments and Divisions instead of Brigades.
V&B (with late 19th Century modifications which have better shooting factors and ranges) work well, the massive movement is interesting, but results are usually historical. Like the command range system, if you're not in range you can't move.
(Tweaked) Black powder get their second trail tonight and, so far, they both produce a fairly historical outcome too, such as French formations with low leadership stalling! We played with a cm scale last time which worked, especially with the massive ranges, light infantry and cavalry needed work, but I like the way with a decent general you can bring a division/brigade back the the brink. However, BP needs more tweaking, Prussian Heavy Artillery were not as effective as they should have been, I also like the lack of paperwork!
I'm planning to use 'To The Last GAiter' to see where formations hit tonight too, then Google maps on our phones to generate terrain...
May even sneak a battle report in soon...  ;)

Not really, mate. It's the overall impression from a yard away that counts, and it's truly excellent. Like cameronian said, the Jaeger formations are highly original and very effective. Great stuff!

Absolutely brilliant mad lemmey!
I used to do a lot of Adler (pwtooo!) on these bases for V&B. It is amazing what you can squeeze on to give that mass effect.
Unfortunately your excellent work means that I am just going to HAVE to get my pendraken ACWs out (ooh-er missus) and 'copy' your efforts.  :ar!
And.......And even worse I'm going all dizzy and having one of my turns.....and, yes, my wallet is out (thats my wallet chaps!).  #:-S I'm going to be buying some of these 1870/Franco-Prussian types (after 25 years of struggling with myself against doing so).
Ah well I am a 'wargamer' after all.
Well done mad lemmey, this Wurttemburg Division is top notch. And the piccies are just great.  :-bd

The more I look at them the more I like them, mad lemmey. It's the careful composition of the bases that does it: the irregular lines, the odd stray soldier hurrying to catch up from the back, the flags that are carried in a different rank in each company. Most of all the Jaeger, disciplined but clearly eager to get their shot in. Exceluuunt!

Happy Bunnies,
