We've had this one through from one of the vehicle guys this month, a bit off the beaten track but an interesting bit of kit.  The KV-5 was a proposed super-heavy tank that never got much further than the drawing board unfortunately.  The plan was to put a 107mm gun onto an enlarged KV chassis, along with two secondary MG turrets, one in the main turret and one in the front of the hull.  The Siege of Leningrad put a stop to any further development and that was that.

This one is more a bit of fun, before everyone starts asking about why it's getting made!  We're also stockpiling a few of these 'What-If' prototype tanks for a potential 1946/Weird War range in the future.  With this, the Maus, Ratte, T-35 and a few more, there's some interesting potential there...

(The smaller turret fits into both the main turret and the front right of the hull.)

Ooooh! There's lovely!

I'd like to see this 1946 range. Centurions and E25s taking on KV5s?

Two points:
Much as I love the T35 it was useless in 1941, let alone 1946.
Why is the KV5 mowing down a hangover from the invasion of 1812?

I don't think many of these these beasts would be much use, but they'd still make for some fun games.  You'd have to ignore the reliability factor though.

I was photoing the new Nap artillery at the same time, so he was the chosen sacrifice...

I'm not entirely sure to be honest.  We do want to release them along with a BKC supplement as you've suggested, so with Phil busy on Koreans for the next year or so, we'd be looking at 2018 really.  I might look at getting the vehicles online first and then folks can be buying those to use alongside some of the later WWII infantry and then we can work on some proper Weird War sculpts at a later date.  I'd love to get the Ratte on sale, just to see some painted up!

Yes please!

Not that I have any earthly use for the thing in-game. I just want to see the look on my regular opponents face when I casually put it on the table   Evil Evil Evil

I already have a Maus and a Karl Morser that are "scenario games only" the Ratte can sit alongside them!

The KV-5 appears in World of Tanks iirc so might sell to that crowd as well as the Weird War II peeps.

Well if you're 'Wjhat If'ing World of Tanks content, how about 'What If'ing the KV-13? Lovely bit of kit...

It does indeed. To those unfamiliar with it, it's a hideous 100+ ton behemoth with impenetrable armour and an iffy but decent gun that can ram-kill a Tiger II if it gets a downhill run at it...

To those who ARE familiar with it, it's an experience point pinata with vast weak points - that great R2-D2 turret on the hull front, and the equally obvious commander's cupola. Many KV-5 drivers actually reverse around corners to keep the R2 unit hidden...
